I was able to further grow as an educator in the 21st Century classroom as I began the course LLT 565 Emerging Technology for Educators. During this course I was able to understand how new and emerging technologies can be used to engage students in the 21st Century classroom.

In the 21st century, technology plays a vital role in all aspects of our lives. But while it is beneficial in many ways, technology can also have a negative influence.  For example, the current generation often communicates in the virtual world behind a screen by texting, IM, or Facebook (social media). Body language, facial expression, and language nuance are lost in the virtual world. Students need to have the opportunity to interact with others in the real world in a variety of social situations. For example, during an interview your demeanor such as posture, eye contact, and handshake are all important factors. These articles have a similar message and we as teachers need to help our students be more well-rounded.

During the course I found some great ways to create bring history to life with virtual field trips.
