My name is Harshal Patel, and I currently work at a small private school called Wyncote Academy. I graduated from Delaware Valley University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. I started at Wyncote Academy as a student teacher, and I now hold a full-time position as a social studies teacher for both the middle and high school level.
Teaching has always been a passion of mine because it offers a unique opportunity to help students grow to become contributing, positive, and productive members of society.
“Teaching history,” as some of my students say, “is boring, and it’s about a bunch of dead people. How is this going to help me in my life?” My job as a teacher is not just to teach the history but also to show its importance and impact on all our lives. Drawing parallels from the past to current events makes history relevant to the students’ own life experience.
