What is next?
This is the question which I can now answer after a long two years of working towards my Masters in Instructional Technology. I have always believed that technology is a key to success for our students in the 21st century. In my eight years at Wyncote Academy, I have seen the school evolve from a small private school with a few special education students to a population with a majority of special education students. This shift in programming was a necessity to accommodate a change in student population. Having a high teacher to student ratio and individualized instruction, helps to ensure the success of the program. Along with the shift to special education was a need to include technology to aid in instruction. This was an area that missing and in need of resources, staff, and forward thinking. Since I was completing a master’s degree in instructional technology, I was offered the position of technology director. Over the past two years, our school has obtained not only resources but the expertise on how to use these resources. Having a technology director is critical to continue this excellent growth. I am fortunate to have knowledge acquired from my coursework to provide the best support to continue our school’s trajectory into the technological possibilities of the 21st century.
